You looked me up.

This site used to make that search worthwhile.
Everything (mostly) now lives here.

I originally built this site for reasons that are both practical and deeply personal. Indeed, if you are here reading this, chances are you looked me up after a recommendation.
I have 3 daughters – the loves of my life, my raisons d’être – and eveything I do is, in one way or another, for them.
Raising children in Singapore — the world’s most expensive city — has a way of sharpening one’s sense of responsibility. It is not merely a privilege, but a serious financial commitment. I am acutely aware of this, having not come from money, and of the effort my parents put in to give me the opportunities I had. Their sacrifices have stayed with me, and they are something I seek to honour in how I approach both my work and my responsibilities as a parent.
This site was, at least in part, my response to that reality. As transaction counsel, credibility is of paramount importance, yet much of one’s work is reflected in deal experience and third-party coverage that is not always permanent. Firm websites change, profiles are updated, and past matters quietly disappear over time and transitions. Credibility in this line of work is built over years but can become surprisingly difficult to evidence if it is not actively preserved. This site therefore served as a personal archive – a way to retain, organise, and present my professional history in a manner that is accurate, accessible, and entirely within my control.
With the establishment of my own practice, I no longer feel this site is necessary in the way it once was. Much of what I had set out to build and preserve here now has a more natural home — including my recent and past deal experience. If you are looking for me, or for a clearer sense of what I do, you will find it there. For even more, write me for my CV.
If you have gotten this far, thank you for taking the time to look me up. I would be grateful for the opportunity to stand by your side. If there is one thing this page reflects — whether in my commitment to my daughters or in having built this site myself — it is that I take that responsibility seriously. If we work together, you will find that I am consistent, dependable, and very much in your corner — a philosophy captured in everstead law’s tagline: always by your side — inspired in no small part by Whopper, my dog, who never fails to do exactly that.
— always by your side, Jem
Gem, Emi, Mia – if one day you find this page, know that Dada loves you girls more than anything in the universe. And that is why I am always on my devices, even if I say you should not be.
